BACKGROUND INFORMATION ON THE SOUTH AND NORTH NANDI FORESTS South Nandi Biodiversity Conservation Group (SONABIC) is a community-based organization in Chepkong’ony sub-location, Nandi South Sub County, Nandi County that was formed in 1999 and registered with the District Social and Gender Development office in 2004.The group has 31 members(10F, 21M). Over the past two decades, SONABIC has been involved in forest management, tree nursery management & forest rehabilitation, beekeeping, environmental education, energy conservation, birdwatching and ecotourism, community development and HIV/AIDS awareness.
