Forest Restoration

1. Tree nursery management & tree planting

   SONABIC has a tree nursery which raises over 50,000 indigenous tree seedling species for forest rehabilitation and agroforestry exercises.

2. Forest rehabilitation

   So far done 118 hectares in South Nandi Forest, working with Kenya Forest Service and Kobujoi CFA. Of these, 2 hectares were rehabilitated in 2007 with support from KCB Bank, 8 hectares in 2009 with support from the Nandi Environmental Forum's EU funded project, 95 hectares with support from Nature Kenya/World Land Trust in 2014, and 13 hectares with support from County Government of Nandi in 2021.
